Have you ever been frustrated with something to the point at which you
felt you needed to quit? There have been many times in my life when I said
that I’m going to stop writing altogether. I was burned out and determined to
hang up my pen once and for all. For some unexplainable reason, I thought I
had already used up all my creativity; it was time to make way for all those
who were just starting off with something of their own to say.

One can guess how many times I’ve been successful at quitting
writing, and correct answer would be zero! The only time that I’ve come
relatively close was in 2010, when I went nearly seven months without writing
anything, except what was required for work. That failed trial was followed by
a literal explosion of words. I’d started writing more poetry and prose; my
muse returned with a vengeance, outraged that I tried to keep her locked up all
that time! As a result, I wrote lots more poetry and started two novels—one
which did not take me very long to complete.

There have been some more great bouts. One had started in 2013 and
came creeping all the way into 2014. I penned lots of poems, quotes, short
stories, essays, and had started three more big novels, a cookbook, and a
memoir. No wonder my poor mind felt so exhausted much of the time.
I was also tired of reading. My brain was officially on strike, and I
didn’t even want to digest any words! And when I did have to “choke down”
some literature, I tried to do so as quickly as possible.

2016 was a milestone for me. That was the year when I broke into
traditional publishing with Pen It! Publications. They initially accepted six of
my children’s picture books. And while I was very proud of each and every one
of my self-published titles, I was simply ecstatic to expand my horizons. I have
since had more titles published by Pen It! Publications, as well as gained
another publisher, Per Bastet Publications. As a result, I’ve earned more
respect as a local author and have sold more copies of my books at events.

In summation, let me just say one thing; I’ve reached the conclusion
that I cannot quit writing, it’s in my blood! I’ve come too far to abandon what I
set out to do all those years ago.Trisha Ratliffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15186052166633413130noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-639087319854376002.post-82781333053612529092017-08-23T21:20:00.003-07:002017-08-23T21:20:55.866-07:00Review for Heart of a Lion

Hey All!!!

Today I have another book review, this time I am fortunate to be part of a blog tour for Stephen Zimmer who was looking for honest reviews of his newest novel Thunder Horizon: the second novel in the Dark Sun Dawn series. He graciously provided a PDF copy and I agreed to read it free of charge.

The series follows the journey of Rayden Valkyrie. Now prior to signing up for this tour I had not read either novel so I decided to review the first novel Heart of a Lion. So without farther delay here it is.

Heart of a Lion follows warrior and hunter Rayden Valkyrie. She is honestly one of the best female protagonists I've seen. She isn't the slightest bit whiny has so many are in novels but she isn't so powerful that she is emotionless, rather she is a very caring person that is willing to go to great lengths to defend what she believes in. The characters are all very realistic, I've found it to be quite easy to forget you're reading a novel

This novel is fast paced and action packed, I personally think this novel is best suited for people aged 18 and up of course that is completly at the readers discreation.
I would describe this series as a cross between Lord of the Rings, Xena and maybe Game of Thrones.
The novel as a whole is incredibly well written with impeccable detail that makes you feel as though you are right there with them on the battlefield. I would definitely recommend this novel.

If anyone would like to buy either novel you can easily find them using one of the links below. I've even included some still shots from Mr Zimmer's TV Pilot!
Well that's it for now.

Wishing you all happy reading!
Book Synopsis for Thunder Horizon: A deadly menace stalks the shadows of the lands to the
north, stirring the winds of war. Farther south, the power of the Teveren Empire spreads with
every passing day, empowered by dark sorcery. Formidable legions bent on conquest are on
the march, slavery and subjugation following in their wake.
Within the rising maelstrom, Rayden Valkyrie has returned to the Gessa, to stand with the tribe
that once took her into their care as a child. No amount of jewels or coin can sway her, nor can
the great power of her adversaries intimidate her.
With a sword blade in her right hand and axe in her left, Rayden confronts foes both
supernatural and of flesh and blood. Horrific revelations and tremendous risks loom; some that
will see Rayden's survival in the gravest of peril.
Even if Rayden and the Gessa survive the trials plaguing their lands, the thunder of an even
darker storm booms across the far horizon.
Thunder Horizon is the second book in the Dark Sun Dawn Trilogy.

Book Synopsis for Heart of a Lion: Rayden Valkyrie. She walks alone, serving no king, emperor,
or master. Forged in the fires of tragedy, she has no place she truly calls home.

A deadly warrior wielding both blade and axe, Rayden is the bane of the wicked and corrupt. To
many others, she is the most loyal and dedicated of friends, an ally who is unyielding in the
most dangerous of circumstances.
The people of the far southern lands she has just aided claim that she has the heart of a lion.
For Rayden, a long journey to the lands of the far northern tribes who adopted her as a child
beckons, with an ocean lying in between.
Her path will lead her once more into the center of a maelstrom, one involving a rising empire
that is said to be making use of the darkest kinds of sorcery to grow its power. Making new
friends and discoveries amid tremendous peril, Rayden makes her way to the north.
Monstrous beasts, supernatural powers, and the bloody specter of war have been a part of her
world for a long time and this journey will be no different. Rayden chooses the battles that she
will fight, whether she takes up the cause of one individual or an entire people.
Both friends and enemies alike will swiftly learn that the people of the far southern lands spoke
truly. Rayden Valkyrie has the heart of a lion.
Heart of a Lion is Book One of the Dark Sun Dawn Trilogy.

I was recently given the honor of reviewing Nicole A. Schmidts new poem collection "Journey To Love" which will be available on Valintines day 2017!

This book is quite different from her previous collection of poems, as you probably guessed this collection is about love and the journey you have to take in order to find it, This collection is geared towards a more mature crowd, her poems are formatted so that it feels as though you are having a conversation with her. This collection shows a more realistic side to trying to find love in the modern world. Just as with her first collection it does have a christian undertone but not so heavily that people with other beliefs would feel uncomforable.

To me this collection is every relatable and touching, as you read deeper and deeper into the collection you see the personal growth and you feel the powerful emotions as she learns who she is and what she wants. It is truely a powerful and inspirational collection, one I think is well worth a read.

Schmidt has a way of touching her readers and making contact with them on a personal level, in a way that I have never seen before. I highly reccomend her collections to anyone new to poetry or that's just wanting something different from the normal arrray of poetry. So check out "Journey to Love" on Amazon when it debuts on Tuesday!
Hey all, I just got done with Nacreous the 4th book in the Harmony run series by Sarah Elle Emm. It is a fasanating read filled with action and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Below is a summery from good reads.

After two members of The Freedom Front are arrested and interrogated by the UZTA's tyrannical President Nicks, Rain Hawkins and her friends face the alarming reality that their plans to liberate the mixed zones across the United Zones of The Authority might not come to fruition. While the resistance movement is growing outside the walls of the zones, the president's forces are strengthening and putting citizens everywhere in more peril than ever. When Rain receives warnings that her cousin, Calista, has agreed to support plans to kill the mixed zones, and that her life could be on the line at the upcoming pure zone initiation ceremony, she must decide where her loyalties lie and if all of her allies can be trusted. As The Freedom Front use their abilities to unravel the mystery of the ceremony, The Authority captures some of their friends, forcing TFF to either go into hiding, or plan a rescue mission that could jeopardize everything they've been fighting for.
1.Why did you write "Inside a young soul"?

Initially I wrote the poems because I needed to vent. I wasn't a rebellious teen so this was my way of getting it all out. Even then, I knew I wanted to publish it so that others would know they weren't alone.

2.Why did you choose to put a “Notes, Reactions, write-a- like” area after each poem?

I wanted my readers to be able react to the text. I wanted them to have the opportunity to get their feelings out too, even their feelings were the opposite of mine. Teenagers are silenced much more than they should be.

3.Do you have a poem that is your favorite or that is the most personal?

I can't say I have a favorite, but I can say that I remember the exact instance or person each poem is about.

4.What was the idea behind these poems?

It was my way to address my emotions. I couldn't share them with the person they were about so I wrote them down. They had to come out one way or another so that I could move forward.

5.You have spots after some poems for "Artistic representation", what are you hoping that youths will do with this page?

Some teens are intimidated by writing, especially poetry. I never intended for them write poetry in the notes section, but I'm sure many will assume so. The artistic representation just provides another avenue for expression. They can draw, paint, collage, whatever their hearts desire.

6.What are you hoping people will take from your poems?

I hope that they comfort those who can relate to the disappointments and struggles in the poems. I hope that the joy in some of them make people laugh and smile. I hope that my readers are able to reminisce about their own experiences. I hope that they are encouraged and realize that it if I can get past these things so can they. Finally, I hope that the book itself reminds them that dreams can be realized. In the poem "Excuuoooooze Me" I share my desire to attend Maryland, teach, and publish a book. All three goals gave been accomplished. If I can do it, so can my readers.

7.Why did you choose to write poetry?

I'm musically inclined. I sing as well so poetry comes naturally to me.

I'm in the process of compiling the next collection entitled, Journey to Love: Vol. 1. It's about knowing that you will get married, but enjoying the journey until you do. This collection is also broken into sections and has reflection pages, but it will also include short essays.

9.Did you have any poets that inspired you to write?

My favorite author is J. California Copper, who wrote short stories and novels. I enjoy Maya Angelo, Gwendolyn Brooks, Langston Hughes, etc, but they didn't inspire me. It has always been innate in me, it's in my DNA.

Hey all, I have been reading a book by Nicole A. Schmidt.

Inside a young soul is a book of poems which she wrote when she was younger. This novel is very heartfelt and is very easy to relate to for a lot of women. It is targeted towards young teen girls and its poems cover religion, family, and relationships. It is very powerful, and it is hard to believe that she was so young while writing it. In the novel there are spots that are titled: Notes , Reactions, write-a -like" In other chapters there is spots for you to draw. It is very interactive and I highly recommend it to young adults and teens. It perfectly embodies what being a teenage girl feels like it.
Hey all,

I've finished Supernova by Braxton A. Cosby. I know I have been posting a lot about his novels but honestly here recently the majority of the books I've read were his. Supernova is the 2nd book in the Protostar series, it takes place right after the first novel and follows William and Sydney while they try to discover more about the Star child existence. During the length of the novel she evolves into the next stage of star child. Supernova. William then does his best to figure out the truth behind what is making Sydney act so odd.

This novel is fast paced, it is extremely well written. I was very excited to find that this book is just as good as the first novel. In the past I have read saga's and trilogies just to find that the first book is good but the second book is lacking, I will get into why I'm not a fan of most trilogies and sagas at a later date.Cosby makes a flowing series that leaves the readers craving more. The characters grow over the course of the two novels and there is always something going on. I was very happy with this novel and I highly recommend any of his books. His novels never cease to amaze me, he is an incredible talent and is well worth a look. For now Trisha signing off.
Hey all! I just finished Spirit Lake by Tamar Hela. It is the first novel in her series and over all its pretty good. Her story is about six teenagers from nothern california that are assigned a project for school. They end up on Cantelia and find that there is a dark ruler that placed a curse over the native people of the island Sikuku Island. The teens agree to help them break the curse so that they can come back to earth.
The novel is strong. She brings together two different genres and blends them together seamlessly. I am truly impressed by her writing talent.I believe that this is an author with a very bright future ahead of her. For now Trisha Signing off.
Hey all, I just got done with reading ProtoStar by Braxton A. Cosby. First off I have to say that when I got the email asking if I would like to review another of Mr Cosby's novels I jumped at the chance to review it. I knew that I would not be disappointed and I wasn't. Mr Cosby has a way of creating characters that are so lifelike and story lines that are strong and intense, I found myself not wanting to stop reading. I will add the blurb from the back of the book so that you all can draw your own conclusions.
I think after this I just might start looking in the science fiction section of my library more often. I am highly recommending this novel to anyone that has had issues getting into Science fiction novels or anyone that just wants a really intense and wonderful read. Also this is a romance science fiction novel. I will also say that i usually have a hard time reading romance but this wasn't dripping with romance. I truly have to tip my hat to Mr Cosby for putting two of my least favorite genres together and making it amazing. I look forward to reading more from him, and I think he is becoming one of my favorite authors. I highly suggest you check out his books. That's all for now, Trisha Signing off.
Cover for Windgate

I had the honor of reading this book by Braxton A. Cosby. This novel is unlike other YA and NA books you may read. It follows a man who is recruited into a group called the sect. This novel is a faith filled heart pumping read that has caused me to have a little more faith in modern christian novels. This novel deals with the spiritual gifts and follows the sect as they work to banish demons from the world and bring love and hope back to humanity. I know it may not sound thrilling but it certainly is. The detail that Mr Cosby applied to this novel and the wording will leave you captivated and wanting more, he is a truly skilled author and I felt myself being pulled deep into the pages of this novel, I felt as though I could feel what the characters were feeling and see what they were seeing. I am truly impressed and look forward to seeing more from him in the future. I am highly recommending this to anyone wanting something different in faith based novels. I can't even think of enough good things to say about his writing, very rarely you find an author that can transport you into their world and make you not want to leave. I am so grateful that I was given the opportunity to read it.

18 Thoughts Launch & Giveaway!

Greetings, fellow book nerds! I’m YA author Jamie Ayres, and I’m sooo excited to

announce that 18 Thoughts, the final book in the My So-Called Afterlife trilogy, is

finally available from Curiosity Quills Press! Toss the virtual confetti, because it’s been

three years in the making (and virtual confetti is a lot less messier).

If you haven't heard of this series yet, here's the cliffnotes summary of each book:

18 Things: Olga Gay Worontzoff struggles to live again after a lightning strike kills the

best friend she was secretly in love with. Her therapist suggests she write a life list of

eighteen things to complete the year of her eighteenth birthday, sending her and her

friends, including the new hottie in town, on an unexpected journey they’ll never

forget. But there’s more to Olga’s quests than meets the eye and when her therapist

reveals a terrifying secret, her world is shaken.

18 Truths: With the lessons the 18 Things life list taught her engraved on her heart,

Olga spends her summer in the Underworld and embarks on a new adventure as a spirit

guide, but nothing prepares her for the chilling truths she’s learning along the way.

18 Thoughts: Olga Gay Worontzoff left the Underworld anxious to return to normal,

but fate had other plans; now she’s caught in a world that’s a mix of familiar and

supernatural, torn between past and present.

1.where do your ideas come from?

If I knew that, I'd go out to the place where they float around and put them in a bottle :) Honestly, I don't know. Inspiration is a mysterious thing, but I think it helps that I read a lot of books besides writing them.

2.how long have you been writing?

I started writing stories when I was nine, but my first 'real' book was finished in 2009 and published in 2012.

3.can you tell what your next project is?

I'm currently in the middle of a fantasy/dystopian series called Tales of Skylge. Book 2 is almost done and book 3 should be available in April!

4.how do you categorize you are writing style?

It's always YA style. Either that or NA. My stories are always about love, the state of the world, and/or the supernatural.

5.do you have any advice for young writers?

Just write a lot so you get better and better! Don't think you'll get the hang of it in a few months' time - take time to invest in yourself.

6. Do you have any particular writing process that you go through to get your work from idea to publishable?

Not really, but I do need to be able to devote entire days to writing if I want to get anywhere, so I make sure I have at least one day a week where I can focus solely on writing. Sometimes, I take two afternoons or mornings, that works as well.

All my books are my favorites, in a way :) It just depends on the mood I'm in which one I'll pick at any given time.

8.Do you have a favorite character from your books?

I liked writing Alisa and Saul in The Deep, especially their relationship. Saul was initially a bad guy, and then he surprised me by being far more three-dimensional than I expected. Sometimes, my own characters take me by surprise.

9. Are there any authors you look up to or look too for inspiration?

No, I like reading certain authors, but I'll never consciously look at them or their work for inspiration. The world around me inspires me enough!

10. How are you hoping to see yourself in 10 years career wise?

I'll hopefully be a full-time writer and translator by then, living abroad in different countries around the world with my husband (who works for an international company, so we wouldn't be traveling around without any financial security!)

They are all a part of me. It just depends on which part of me is most vocal at the time of writing a new book. Sometimes, I also let people around me inspire me to come up with supporting characters, but I guess the main character is always 'me' in a certain way.

1. Where did you get the idea for your book?

My older brother Bill and I have always been working on this sort of “supernatural horror” type

universe, something we just started chatting about in the swimming pool as kids and just never stopped

building. At this point the whole universe pretty much just floats around in our brains like gumbo, but

we do plan on doing something with it at some point. Deadgirl is sort of the first major stab at the

universe.

What Lucy becomes in Deadgirl is a new monster idea I had during those talks. What if a person was

supposed to die but just . . . didn’t?

2. How long did it take you to write it?

I’m not the fastest writer on the Earth, and by that I mean I’m super, duper slow. When I’m writing I

pound out the words like a mad man, but I’ll go months in between projects, or I’ll get stuck and have to

come back weeks later. I’m a “fits and starts” kind of writer, in general.

I started Deadgirl during the 2008 NaNo, but I didn’t finish the manuscript until late 2009. Most of my

books take about a year-and-a-half, generally. That’s not counting the abandoned books, of which there

are many. When I fall out of love with an idea, I fall hard and smash my face and never want to see it

again.

3.What is your writing process like? Do you storyboard?

Every book ends up using a different process, so I guess I just use whatever feels right for the book. I

wrote Deadgirl in one linear shot without any storyboarding – I knew the ending, I knew the characters,

and I just ran as fast as I could toward it.

The Deadgirl sequel, which is finished and winging toward the publisher within the next few weeks,

involved a ton of outlining. I even broke it down by acts, chapters, and scenes before I wrote a single

word. The story was more complex, and the world was getting bigger, and it was really important to

keep track of everything.

Other books I’ve done some mixture. I almost always write linearly, though – beginning to end. I’ve

never been good about jumping around through the timeline. Some writers love it, but I kind of want to

hear the story as I write it.

4.Should we all be on the look out for anymore books after this one?

Definitely! Unless the publishers hate the sequel (pleasenopleasenopleaseno) I’m hoping that will be out

within the next year, but there’s nothing official. Just desperate hope, which is where I tend to live. I

have a short story in the second annual Curiosity Quills Anthology, which is out at the end of November I

believe.

After that I have a few manuscripts finished, and we’ll see where those take us. I do think the Deadgirl

series will be four books – I’ve already got the third book written almost entirely in my head, I just have

to pour it onto a keyboard.

5.How long have you been writing?

I’ve been dabbling since I was seven, but I don’t count that. I’ve been seriously writing since I was 19, so

10 years? Geez, 10 years. Well now I feel old.

6.Do you draw inspiration from any others?

Everyone and everything. Movies, TV, books, video games – I find the more I consume, the more I write,

and the better my writing gets. You can’t not help learning by exposure. You’ll absorb lessons about

storytelling by accident if nothing else.

7.Do you have any advice for young writers?

Kinda nicking off what I said earlier, but read. Read everything, in every genre that you love or want to

learn about. Pay attention to the exact moment when you started digging a character and take notes.

Pay attention to when the book gets boring, and write down why. When you’re reading a book that you

don’t want to stop, and it leaves you reading all night, try to figure out why (and more importantly how)

it’s doing that. Is there constant tension? That works for some people. Is there a good ebb and flow of

action, moments where the characters are allowed to relax? Some people prefer that, the “day in the

life” approach. Know what you want to write and do it on purpose, that’s the key.

Learn to read like a writer. Try to predict what’s going to happen next, and see if you’re happy or

disappointed when you’re proved right. If the writer pulls of a spectacular twist that blows your mind,

start looking back at the train tracks the writer laid earlier in the book to make certain he’d hit you with

the train in that exact spot.

And last but not least, write. Write when it’s great, write when it sucks, write when you’re tired, write

when you had a bad day, write when you just recovered from a stab wound (but don’t write while

receiving a stab wound), write on your birthday.

Look back a year ago – wouldn’t it be awesome if you’d started writing a book that day? So do it now,

and next year you’ll be like “Past-Me! You kick a$$!”Trisha Ratliffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15186052166633413130noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-639087319854376002.post-42393993194523191512014-11-16T18:38:00.000-08:002014-11-16T18:38:54.832-08:00

Jackson returns to Arcas expecting to find peace—a peace greatly lacking within his own home. But when a violent archer takes over as Lord of the White Palace, the future of the ancient kingdoms is shaken.
While Rigel, Otava, and Merope work together to rescue the six sisters trapped at the White Palace, Sephdar returns from shadowy crusades to find White Wings’ army leaderless. The new self-proclaimed ruler has a plan for the Seven Sisters and a plan for The Bridge to Earth. But when his ambitious arrows pierce the peaceful kingdoms, an unlikely force confronts the dark lord and the future of the crowns is changed forever.
In absence of the seven sisters, Jackson returns to find that dark creatures have overtaken the beautiful Starling Forest, destroying everything in their path. Jackson and Nekkar narrowly escape together, but Nekkar blames the Son of Earth for releasing the present darkness in Arcas. The rocky, new friendship strengthens as they journey through dangerous lands toward the Free Realms. Can their loyalties survive when the beautiful Princess Andromeda interrupts their quest and the darkness of war batters their souls?
Hold to your axe and hold to your lass as you join Jackson to combat the darkness spreading through the world of Arcas. But remember, the most powerful arrows do not pierce the body but the soul.

Donna of the Dead by Allison Kemper. Below I will have the excerpt.

Donna Pierce might hear voices, but that doesn’t mean she’s crazy. Probably.

The voices do serve their purpose, though—whenever Donna hears them, she knows she’s in danger. So when they start yelling at the top of their proverbial lungs, it’s no surprise she and her best friend, Deke, end up narrowly escaping a zombie horde. Alone without their families, they take refuge at their high school with the super-helpful nerds, the bossy head cheerleader, and—best of all?—Liam, hottie extraordinaire and Donna’s long-time crush. When Liam is around, it’s easy to forget about the moaning zombies, her dad’s plight to reach them, and how weird Deke is suddenly acting toward her.

But as the teens’ numbers dwindle and their escape plans fall apart, Donna has to listen to the secrets those voices in her head have been hiding. It seems not all the zombies are shuffling idiots, and the half-undead aren’t really down with kids like Donna…
Well this one is a YA Romance that involves time travel. Below is the Excerpt for this book.

Follow the rules. Remember what happened. Never fall in love.

This is the story of seventeen-year-old Prenna James, who immigrated to New York when she was twelve. Except Prenna didn’t come from a different country. She came from a different time—a future where a mosquito-borne illness has mutated into a pandemic, killing millions and leaving the world in ruins.

Prenna and the others who escaped to the present day must follow a strict set of rules: never reveal where they’re from, never interfere with history, and never, ever be intimate with anyone outside their community. Prenna does as she’s told, believing she can help prevent the plague that will one day ravage the earth.

But everything changes when Prenna falls for Ethan Jarves.

I am not a romance loving person but this had a fairy good storyline. To me this book had only hints of romance so if your like me an don't like romance in your books this is a good book for you.

I've got another review for you and this one is a neat one this book involves mythology and the paranormal and if you like any of that then keep reading to see the excerpt.

Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about him. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only is she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

I was really impressed with this book I've always been a big fan of both subjects and to see them really come together just made it perfect I am highly recommending it for those mythological lovers out there.
A twisty story about love, loss, and lies, this contemporary oceanside adventure is tinged with a touch of dark magic as it follows seventeen-year-old Wendy Darling on a search for her missing surfer brothers. Wendy’s journey leads her to a mysterious hidden cove inhabited by a tribe of young renegade surfers, most of them runaways like her brothers. Wendy is instantly drawn to the cove’s charismatic leader, Pete, but her search also points her toward his nemesis, the drug-dealing Jas. Enigmatic, dangerous, and handsome, Jas pulls Wendy in even as she's falling hard for Pete. A radical reinvention of J. M. Barrie's classic tale, Second Star is an irresistible summer romance about two young men who have yet to grow up—and the troubled beauty trapped between them.

This was really youthful and at the same time packed a punch this is a Peter Pan for the older kids and its wonderful. I truly adore it and I highly recommend it to anyone that loved Peter Pan as a child.

Well this book is heartbreaking and brutal as well as so close to the truth its not even funny.

This book is about a girl who is plagued by rumors that everyone in the school has made up about her. Alice is called a lot of things in this book and of course where rumors are a degree of bullying comes along with it. But she was used to it until one of the boys who was "Connected" to her through a rumor dies in a car crash after his death the rumors spiral out of control and the book is seen through four of the teens that started the rumors in the first place...but no one truly knows what happened...except for Alice.

As I read this book so many emotions came from it..you could feel the anger and jealousy these girls had and you could also feel the sadness that Alice projected...Miss Mathieu has written a book that flawlessly shows the ins and outs of bullying and the consequences that come with it..I had read this book months back but I couldn't fully write a review for it fore it felt as though I was there watching all of this occur. Thank you so much Miss Mathieu for writing this book and I truly hope that many will read it and see the wrongs of bullying.

Well, it’s kind of a funny beginning. One cold November, Benji (the “B” in B.I. Woolet) was hiding in my parent’s back room and staring into the blazing fireplace. He was hoping to disappear from the awkwardness of being a guy present at someone else’s baby shower. While alone, Benji started thinking about what it would be like if he traveled to another world. This simple, momentary daydream turned into the 1st book in the World of Arcas.

2.Why did you choose to write a young adult novel?

We like that the YA world is full of first time experiences. It’s a genre where characters awaken to new realities, confront old fears, gain deeper independence, fall in love, and look to a future where they have the opportunity to change themselves and the world around them.

3. When you were writing The Hunter, The Bear and the Seventh Sister what inspired these characters?

The stars! Around the same time we starting writing, we purchased our first telescope. To navigate the night sky properly, we needed to learn and recognize many different constellations. We’d always enjoyed hearing the Greek stories about the constellations, but as we stargazed, these characters danced their way into our story with new life.

How long have you all been writing? Apart and together?

But when we first met, we shared a love of music. I sang in the high school choir while Benji accompanied the choir from the piano. During college, I studied English and he studied Music Composition. Our combined love of literary and lyrical arts first morphed into writing songs together, but about 3 years ago, we started writing The Hunter, the Bear, and the Seventh Sister. It’s been an adventure for us as a married couple with little children running around, but we enjoy the challenge, the fun, and the partnership.

We know that there will be at least 3 books in the World of Arcas series, but there are many unique and interesting characters that are beckoning us to dig deeper into their stories and histories. We aren’t going to make any guarantees, but it could end up being 6-8 books.

Writing is a journey. It can take a long time to reach the destination. You may get tired along the way. You may question whether the work and the editing and the money are worth investing into it. And the hardest thing is, you may not always know exactly where you are going or if you will be well-received when you get there. But if you choose to put one foot in front of the other each day and continue down the path, you are sure to be changed through the process. Dare to take the first step toward your dreams. Dare to share your stories with friends and family who can inspire and encourage you along the way. And dare to let the journey change you into a better, wiser, and more compassionate person.

Can you tell us anything about the 2nd book in the Arcas series?

Fans will be happy to know that all of their favorite characters are back as the adventures in Arcas continue with book 2: Arrows of Darkness. Life in Arcas is getting darker and more intense since Jackson left. Here’s a small sneak peak from the back cover!

“Jackson returns to Arcas expecting to find peace—a peace greatly lacking within his own home. But when a violent archer takes over as Lord of the White Palace, the future of the ancient kingdoms is shaken.”

8.Where did you get the names for your novels?

Like our characters, our titles are related to the stars. The Hunter, the Bear, and the Seventh Sister came from the constellations Orion, Ursa Major, and the Pleiades. Arrows of Darkness came from the Saggita constellation, which means “arrow.”

9. Did you write these books knowing that you would be publishing them? or was it just an experiment that worked out fabulously?

At first, we were exploring and experimenting with the wild dream that maybe, someday, we would publish. We didn’t necessarily think it would happen, but after 2 years of writing and editing, we realized that the novel was complete. So, we started researching and began the next adventure of publishing!

10. Do you have any plans to further the Arcas series after book 2 or are we drawing to a close with this series?

Oh, yes! We have a strong gut feeling that the World of Arcas series has many more years and many more books to explore before the journey is complete.

11.And I think everyone wants to know this. Do you have any plans for any other works in the future?

Definitely! Now that we’ve had our first taste of being authors, we don’t want to stop. We have several ideas for stand-alone novels once this series is complete. We love fantasy but also want to explore writing in the realms of mystery, thriller, and futuristic Sci-fi.

There you have it. There is a possibility that B.I Woodlet will come out with stand alone novels as well as new books in the Arcas Series so for now Trisha Signing off.
